Out of college I wanted to change the world through organic produce; it was counterculture, environmentally appropriate and exciting. I started at Natures Food and Tool in 1983 stocking shelves, became produce manager in 1984, Produce Merchandizer in 1985 and was involved in its growth and success until 1998 when I left to be a founding member of New Seasons Market. From 1999 to 2024 I was the Produce Director at New Seasons Marketing involved in opening over 20 stores in Oregon, Washington and California while overseeing New Leaf Community Markets from 2019-2023. Today I work at Organically Grown Company buying produce for New Seasons while being an active member of OGC Retail outreach team.  Some of my most important contributions are creating a symbiotic buying relationship with OGC that dates to the mid 80's that is unique in the industry. Been committed to the small family farms as both as a buyer, friend, and resource to maintain their viability. And work with retailer of all sizes to battle the consolidation that creates challenges in a very awkward time!
